Why use a multimeter? 

When you use a multimeter to test your stator, you can perform a quick resistance analysis on the port and compare the results to those in the manual. And as soon as possible, get a new stator if you receive an OL analysis.

Static Test

You must first carry out a static test, which is a test carried out without the engine running and the stator connected to the ATV. Before disconnecting the stator, ensure that the ATV is off. Start each circuit’s resistance testing with your multimeter’s ohms setting. Check the connections between pins 1 and 2, 2 and 3, as well as between 1 and 3 by simply attaching the leads from the multimeter to the terminals in the electrical connector of the stator. Check the multimeter reading against the recommended value in your service handbook.

To ascertain whether the stator is shorting to the ground, perform the following test. One meter lead will go in the connector, and the other will go on the stator body. OL, or open line, is the proper interpretation in this case. If you notice another reading, there is a problem with the stator. Measure the length of each coil, winding, and phase.

Dynamic Test

Performing the dynamic test while the motor is running is another test. You must charge your battery for this to function. You must have the AC voltage setting on your multimeter for this measurement. Probably, you will want a pal to assist you.
